Benjolin – Gorga, Eurorack Synthesizer Module
After more than a year, I finally be able to test Benjolin – Gorga prototype. Achel Suez, a friend of mine, was kindly support me and encourage me to build more Eurorack modules. He kindly lend me some of his unused modules and most importantly a Eurorack power modules. I had made a design for my own Eurorack power modules, but I didn’t had the time to focus on building it. This was the main reason the the Benjolin prototypes drag on for more than a year.
As a DIY synth enthusiast, I always had a great respect and admiration for Rob Hordijk’s creation, The Benjolin. I first learned about Benjolin from Derek Holzer – Macumbista. I was doing visual live coding for his live performance in a gig organized by Art Kill Art for Mal Au Pixel Festival 2010, Paris. It was the first time I could actually try out a modular synthesizer which he kindly enough to let me try it during check sound session. Derek is also an instrument builder, and one of his creation Butterfly Benjolin is a beast. After that encounter I became aware of many other versions of Benjolin in the Synth DIY community.
Years gone by, I never managed to build a Benjolin. Either I was drowned with my work and activities, or I was busy working on other instrument projects. I managed to etched a standalone original Benjolin PCB, but I never made it happen. Simply because as I learned more and more, I figure out that The Benjolin is actually quite an advance instrument to build which I didn’t had the luxury of time and energy at that time. I finally made a prototype back in 2022, because I thought the Benjolin i a perfect module for me to build my own Modular Synthesizer.
After testing the prototype, and fixing minor and major mistakes (fake parts especially Integrated Circuit in Indonesia) this is it. My Benjolin version in Eurorack format which I named it Benjolin – Gorga. I have some PCB’s left and I am accepting pre-order for any of you who would like to have one build. Information for pre-order available in this form. Source for this project is available in my Github and I appreciate if anyone use the source could give some donation through my Paypal (andreslov4@gmail.com) which I will use for further instrument research.

I again thankful for the support from PCBWay for the support in creating this prototype. For those of you using the PCBWay service, I already put the Gerber in the link below:
